The cemetery was overgrown, and the sign had fallen, but we found it with no trouble as the road went right to it. I'll have to research to find out just who some of the people are who are buried here. Uncle Fred told us that Nellie and Polly, the two stillborn daughters of John T. and Cynthia Jane "Jennie" Forbes Penley are buried here, and their resting places marked only with fieldstones. Nellie was born and died in 1917 and Polly in 1925.
Our cousin Bea did tell us that seven children are buried in one grave at this cemetery. Their house burnt and the children could not be properly identified. Some of the names mentioned on stones in addition to Penley are Dykes and Compton. There was evidently a real community on this section of the mountain.
