Bristol Caverns

This misty photo is my favorite shot of the Craley Clan visit to Scott County. It was taken at Bristol Caverns in between showers on the rainy Sunday afternoon we made the trip. You have to walk a short distance from the Gift Shop to the cavern entrance, and luckily they provided umbrellas. I remember visiting the Caverns on one of my family's trips down here when I was just a child. Some things seemed familiar, though that may be because Tom and I have visited quite a few caverns over the years! Still, it was great to take the grandkids to a place of childhood memories.
One of the things kids (of all ages) can do at Bristol Caverns is pan for gold, or really rocks! Lexi and Cait took a turn and found some pretty neat stones to take home. Just like Arte's Gem Mining in Webkinz World. Uh-oh.....that just kind of slipped out.

We all made a wish on the wishing stone. Here, Lexi, takes her turn.

We discovered on the way there that we are only about 40 minutes from Bristol Speedway. I guess now that we're down here in Nascar country, we're going to have to go at least once.

The guide at Bristol Caverns called this large formation, the Turkey Leg, and so we call the photo "Big Turkeys."
