A Hard Life

It is a beautiful place, old Chimney Top, but a dangerous and difficult place to live, I expect. Uncle Fred tells of visiting his Uncle Jim's family and taking them supplies from Kingsport. They parked Poppy's old Model T at the bottom of the mountain and walked up. The road in those days wasn't any better than now, I guess.
Still, they lived and raised their families there, as Penley descendants in the valley will testify.
