Beautiful views abound in Scott County, though sometimes you have to work for them. This one was actually pretty easy - and thrilling - to obtain, though we paid a price!
Tom and I spotted this swinging bridge across the Clinch River on one of our first trips to Scott County. There are still a lot of these bridges swung across the Clinch and Copper Creek, both of which flow through the county. This is the longest we've seen, which is why we wanted the kids to run across it! Caiti and I were the first up, and then came Nadja, who got no further than the steps. BEES!! Apparently, there was a nest under the bridge and Cait and I woke them up! Nadja headed back down the steps, and so Tom (with all his allergies) and Lexi didn't even attempt the crossing. Since Cait and I were already up there, we decided we might as well make the trip to the other side. Mike, who was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt, followed us, his object, I'm sure, Cait's safe return! So three of us crossed the swinging bridge - Grandma, Caiti, and Chotti, who wasn't at all sure about it as you can see from the picture above. Caiti made it back through the bees with no trouble, but I got stung twice.
I was brave and didn't cry.
