The Bristol Train Station

Barbara and I went to Bristol today to visit Gwen (her herbalist) and then took a short drive down State Street -that famous stretch where Virginia is on one and Tennessee on the other side of the street. We were headed for the famous sign where my Dad had his picture taken, and as you've probably already read, we found it! The beautiful old Bristol Train Station is near the sign so we stopped for a visit. As it was cold and rainy, we had the place to ourselves, and fortunately we could walk all the way around it under cover.

Look at these enormous arched doors and the beautiful brickwork above them.

A couple of old baggage carts are still here, awaiting passengers who will never come.

We don't know why these lovely swags were hanging at the main entrance, but speculated that local florists may bring them following weddings or funerals. I took a minute to straighten a bow, while Barb snapped pictures.

I'm so glad we took a few minutes to appreciate this wonderful piece of history.
