Cousin Bob will be happy to know that we've finally made a little progress with the mower that used to belong to our Grandpa Peters.
Tom jacked it up today and we laid newspaper and landscaping fabric to kill the grass beneath it. Then we set the wheels on paving stones and put some rocks under front where the blade was sinking into the yard.
Finally, Tom spread mulch all around it so it looks much nicer. Still debating whether or not we're going to paint it, but I think we will. Hopefully, we'll get that done this fall, and it will be ready for flowers next spring. I am so, so happy to have it!

I was wondering whether you'd decided about this or not. Not too long ago I drove past a house where they had one of these in the yard, painted mostly red with some black (the teeth on the actual mowing bit were black, for instance). It was a high-gloss paint, and looked very nice.
