Buttercup Lane

This is the view from Buttercup Lane. We live on Manville Road, directly across from Marigold Lane, and Buttercup is the next road to the right. We can see the Buttercup sign from our porch. In theory, we could easily walk here as it's no more than half a mile up this lane. In truth, we'd never, ever make it. Buttercup is steep - really steep. Not too steep for a Jeep (which is how we got there) but too darn steep for a couple of out-of-shape old folks to walk.
It was bad enough that we had to walk this last stretch through the meadow or hayfield, whichever you want to call it. I suppose it really depends on whether or not they cut it! Grandpa Peters cut his hay on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day, according to Aunt Wanda, so this field might still be cut.
In any case, it was heartbreakingly beautiful on this Memorial Day, so high and green, ringed by trees, and mountains in the distance.

Since Nadja, Mike, Alex, and Cait arrived just about a month ago, we've been trying to show them a little bit of their new home territory. Tom and Nadja posed up Buttercup Lane.

So did Alex and Cait, though not quite as cheerfully....they were hot!

These bushes are all over the place....will somebody please tell me what they are? I keep thinking multiflora rose, but it might be a kind of berry. There were lots of berry bushes up Buttercup and we'll be keeping an eye on them!

Tom loves high places - and his new home.

Lex on top of the world.

Cait and Alex

Just Cait, above, and Nadja and Alex, below.

My Facebook friends have already seen these pictures but I wanted to post them for everyone else. Hopefully, the FB folks will enjoy another look.
